Truth Told is a response to MacEwan’s calling as a university – to explore truth in its many forms: from historical to scientific; mathematical to moral.
It’s a commitment to MacEwan’s identity as a place where all learners – students and faculty alike – are encouraged to pose questions, challenge their own perceptions and pursue truth.
And while we acknowledge that truth takes on many names and meanings, as a university community, we embrace our truth-related responsibilities.
MacEwan rests on Treaty Six territory, and we acknowledge Canada’s history, while actively responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s calls to action.
In this “post-truth” era, we embrace uncertainty. It allows us to practice critical thinking, challenge our assumptions and question our opinions.
Researchers make predictions, prepare to be wrong, then predict again. Detangling fact from fiction, our students and faculty work to find solutions and solve problems for a better future.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMacEwanU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxMacEwanU event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
